Whale Watching in Hervey Bay you'll love it!
WHALE WATCHING IN HERVEY BAY QUEENSLAND
Watch the Whales!!
| August - September - October
Humans have always had a close affiliation with dolphins, in fact in early Greece, killing a dolphin received the same
punishment as murder. They have always been associated with intelligence and an eagerness to communicate with us.

Whales, on the other hand held a certain fascination, mainly because of their enormous size and probably because
only a decade or so ago, we had only ever seen them on photographs or films, generally taken in bays, surrounded by ice-capped mountains.
Whilst the East Coast of Australia offers a number of areas to see whales, generally this takes place in open
waters, Coral Sea, South Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea, with the usual ocean swells and whales in transit, continually swimming.
BUT WHY IS WHALE WATCHING IN HERVEY BAY SO DIFFERENT?
The warm shallow waters of Hervey Bay are sheltered from any ocean swell by Fraser Island, the largest sand island in
the world and offers lake-like conditions.
Here, you and your entire family can enjoy one of the greatest spectacles on earth, the Humpback Whales, as they
rest and play for a few days, before continuing their annual migration of some 16000km to Antarctica. These magnificent
animals are regarded as the most acrobatic of all the big whales. Just imagine, a Humpback whale, weighing some
45,000kg or an equivalent of 11 elephants, that, with a few flicks of its tail, can propel itself almost totally out of
the water. Or you can watch them, swimming towards your vessel to almost within touching distance, gently and
carefully checking you out for their spot of "people watching". Or are they posing for your cameras?
WHALE WATCHING IN HERVEY BAY IS TRULY AN EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME
And often the whales are in company with many common and spinner dolphins, playfully racing in front of the bow and
also very much aware of the passengers looking down on them
